Castalla Plenary unanimously approves the contracting of the works for the new municipal pavilion

• The amount is 1,451,033.52 euros and the execution period is fifteen months from the start of construction

The Castalla Plenary has given the green light to the contracting dossier for the construction of the new municipal pavilion. In the extraordinary session held last Tuesday, the councillors unanimously approved to start the tendering process. The total cost of the project is 1,451,033.52 euros and to carry it out the Town Hall already has a grant of 623,244 euros from the Diputación de Alicante. This aid is part of the Planifica Plan, which supports investment and financing in infrastructure.

The new facility will be located in the municipal sports centre and, as planned, has a completion period of fifteen months from the start of the works. The mayor of the town, Antonio Bernabeu, explained that “this is an infrastructure that has been very much demanded by the whole town, as it is a proposal that was put forward through a process of citizen participation. With its materialisation, we are fulfilling the wishes of the residents of Castalla”. Bernabeu also recalled that it has been possible to mobilise this large amount of money thanks to the two credit modifications that the Town Council has recently approved.

For his part, the Councillor for Sports, Román Sáez, declared that “with the new pavilion we are responding to the needs of the large number of sportspeople in our town who make use of these facilities”. As Sáez explained, “the infrastructure will allow training and competition in different disciplines such as indoor football, volleyball, mini-basketball, basketball and handball”.

Finally, the councillor for Town Planning, Raquel Guill, detailed that “the new pavilion will have a multi-sports court, changing rooms, stands, storage rooms, toilets, a gym or multi-purpose room and an area with two floors, where there will be a room for the local billiards club”.
