The city of Castalla will host the award ceremony of the XXVI Premi Enric Valor de Novel-la en Valencià, which is organised by the Culture Department of the Diputación de Alicante. The Town Hall is in charge of organising the event in the Municipal Auditorium, together with the provincial entity, which will take place on Tuesday 26 October at 20:30. This year, the actress and scriptwriter Marian Díez Picó and her play ‘No t’ho diré mai’ have won the prize, worth 20,000 euros, for which 24 other authors competed. The text narrates the reflections of a woman in her fifties who is facing a life very different from the one she had imagined.

The first vice-president and deputy of Culture, Julia Parra, said that “it is a great satisfaction to resume the tradition of delivering in Castalla, the town where Enric Valor was born, the Premi de Novel-la, which on this occasion will be collected by Marian Díez. To this end, the Town Council, with the collaboration of the Diputación, is preparing an emotional event in which literature and music will play a leading role”.

For his part, the mayor of the town, Antonio Bernabeu, said that “the celebration of the Awards in our town is part of a series of events, along with the Fira de la Fantasia and the rehabilitation project of the birthplace of the writer of Castalla, to place the figure of Enric Valor where it belongs. In turn, the councillor for Culture, Saúl Mira, said that “Valor is a benchmark in the standardisation of the Valencian language and we are proud to recognise the importance of his figure and to celebrate events such as these awards in his memory with the Diputación”.

The award-winning Díez Picó, a native of Monóvar, has been recognised by the jury chaired by the vice-president of the Diputación de Alicante, Julia Parra, and also formed by the provincial deputy Gerard Fullana, the writer and oenologist Rafael Poveda, Gonçal López-Pampló, professor at the University of Valencia, Isabel Marcillas and María Ángeles Francés, PhDs in Catalan Philology, Vicent Ferrán García, assistant professor at the CEU Cardenal Herrera University, and Carlos Ferrer, graduate in Philology.

The head of Culture stressed that “with this award, we want to recognise and promote the creation of literary works in Valencian and give greater visibility to our authors”. This contest of the Diputación de Alicante also aims to highlight the work carried out by Enric Valor i Vives to standardise Valencian, the language of the Comunitat Valenciana, in his different facets as an author and researcher. The 2021 edition will end next Tuesday with the award ceremony in the Municipal Auditorium of Castalla.
