The Municipal Council of the San Isidro Fair of Castalla designs a calendar to promote the event

• This year the XXVIII edition will take place on the 13th, 14th and 15th of May with activities and shows for all ages

The Municipal Council of the San Isidro Fair of Castalla has designed a work schedule with the aim of promoting and boosting this important event for the municipality. The council, which has consultative and participatory functions, is complementary to the Town Council and met last Monday. This year, the fair will hold its 28th edition on 13, 14 and 15 May, after two years without this activity due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The aim of the body is to work on the organisation, operation and promotion of the fair. However, its decisions are not binding for the Consistory.

The mayor of Castalla, Antonio Bernabeu, has highlighted “the will of the entire government team to modernize the Feria de San Isidro de Castalla, after two years without being able to celebrate this important event for our city, because of the Covid-19”. In this sense, the mayor announced that “our intention is to make a leap in quality at the San Isidro Fair, with more and better products, exhibitions, with the help of traders, artisans, associations, visitors and the other sectors involved”.

The Fair Council is formed by the figure of the president, who represents the mayor, Antonio Bernabéu; the executive vice-president, who is the councillor for Internal Regime, Gema Sánchez; the second vice-president, the councillor for Tourism Promotion, Maite Gimeno. The body is completed by the members of the political parties represented in the Town Hall and the members of the local associations. These include the Castalla Traders Association, the Castall’Art Cultural Association, the Ibi and Region Business Association (IBIAE) and the Automotive Workshop Association.

As for its duties, the council will meet a minimum of four times a year, plus those deemed appropriate by the mayor or the councillor for the fair, or when requested by at least half of its members. After this first meeting, which has already taken place, the members already know each other and are aware of their duties.

Finally, Bernabeu affirmed that “all the representatives of the council are going to make every effort to ensure that the San Isidro Fair is a success in May and becomes an essential date in the spring calendar of the whole region”. In addition, the mayor announced that “we will communicate all the news related to the fair to make it a reference point for information”.
