Castalla approves the tender for the new CEIP, the cost of which is fully financed by the Generalitat
- The Consistory expects the works to begin in September and put an end to 13 years of barracks that thousands of local pupils have passed through
- The Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Deporte is covering the €4,198,000 total cost of this long-awaited project as part of the Pla Edificant
The Castalla Town Council has approved the tender for the construction of the new Infant and Primary School (CEIP) No. 2 in the town. In an extraordinary plenary session held on Tuesday 3 August, the councillors of the government team were the only ones to vote in favour of the project. The equipment has a total budget of 4,198,161.06 euros and is fully subsidised by the Conselleria de Educación, Cultura y Deporte de la Generalitat Valenciana, within the framework of the ‘Plan Edificant’. After the approval by the municipal plenary last Tuesday, once the works begin, the 18-month period for the completion of the construction begins.
The capital of La Foia will have this new facility after nearly a decade of work to achieve it. It is a facility of the utmost importance for the town, leaving behind the barracks in which all the local pupils have studied for the last thirteen years.
The mayor of Castellut, Antonio Bernabeu, has highlighted the importance of the construction of the new school. The mayor said that “with the CEIP nº 2 of Castalla we are fulfilling a very important demand of the population of our town in recent years”. In addition, Bernabeu added, “we are going to improve conditions for the students of Castalla, who will finally leave behind the barracks despite the abstention of Compromís and PP, even though we know that all the money for this centre comes from the Generalitat Valenciana, through the Conselleria de Educación”.
The highest representative of the municipal government has informed that the file has already been published on the contracting platform. Thus, once the 26-day deadline for submitting proposals has elapsed, the contracting committee can be convened immediately. This is the procedure to determine the successful bidder of the contract and start as soon as possible with the construction of the CEIP No. 2 of Castalla.
For her part, the councillor for Town Planning, Raquel Guill, emphasised the fact that this infrastructure will be paid for in its entirety by the Generalitat Valenciana, within the Pla Edificant. For Guill, “this is one of the major infrastructures that Castalla needed and with its construction we are fulfilling one of our main objectives for this term of office and for the coming decades”.
