The Castalla City Council has trained 10 local residents to learn about masonry, urbanization and pavements through the mixed employment and training program ‘T.E. Employment II’. The Consistory has carried out the project thanks to the grant of 251,354.40 euros from the Department of Sustainable Economy, Productive Sectors, Trade and Labor of the Generalitat Valenciana and the collaboration of Labora.

The mayor of Castalla, Antonio Bernabeu, stressed the importance of these training programs during the press conference following the ceremony of delivery of diplomas to participants in the employment workshop. According to the mayor, “these projects are essential because they improve the theoretical and practical skills of the residents of Castalla, so they can access better jobs in the market”. For Bernabeu, “the students who successfully complete this course see how their skills and competencies grow, and improve their employment situation, which ultimately benefits society as a whole”.

In this way, ten people have participated in the employment workshop in Castalla in a single group for a period of 12 months. This is equivalent to 1,920 hours of training in alternation with work or professional practice. The students have received training in paving and urbanization masonry.

Thus, during the course, participants in the employment workshop in Castalla have been responsible for carrying out basic construction works and improvements in the town. Among them we can highlight the realization of pedestrian fords in the streets Benlliure, San Francisco, Cervantes, Senieta de l’Auelet, Azorín, San Juan Bosco, Avenida Constitución, Goya, Sorolla, Leonardo Jover and Jaume I.

For her part, the Councillor for Finance, Gema Sanchez, explained how the money from the grant from the Generalitat Valenciana has been invested. “Specifically, the 251,354.40 euros received by the City Council of Castalla have been invested as follows: 75,648 euros have been allocated to the salary costs of management, teaching and administrative assistant staff, 21,120 euros have gone to cover the costs of training and maintenance; and the largest item, the remaining 154,586.40 euros have been used to meet the salary of students.”
