Castalla is working on the drafting of the Municipal Territorial Emergency Plan for the town

Castalla Town Council is working on the drafting of the town’s Municipal Territorial Emergency Plan (PTM). The Consistory has received a grant of 6,000 euros from the Valencian Agency for Security and Emergency Response to pay for the project. At the moment, talks are progressing between the Department of Public Safety, technical staff, the local police, the fire brigade, Civil Protection and the Municipal Brigade to define the details of the document.

The Mayor of Castalla, Antonio Bernabeu, stated that “the Municipal Territorial Emergency Plan allows us to have protocols ready to deal with all kinds of risk situations”. For Bernabeu, “having this document ready is a guarantee for our city, as well as for the population, as we improve safety throughout the urban environment of Castalla”.

The drafting period for the new plan is between six and eight weeks. The aim is to ensure a correct drafting, taking into account that meetings with the agents involved, field trips and citizen participation actions are being carried out. In this way, the population can also express their point of view, make their perception of risk known and enrich the drafting of the MTP with specific cases.

The emergency plan is developed around different activities. Firstly, the drafting of the report. Then, the mapping work. This section shows the layout of the territory in terms of danger, vulnerability and risk. It also takes into account the most vulnerable areas or escape routes in the event of a natural disaster caused by an emergency. These actions are complemented by field trips, which are carried out to ensure the quality and veracity of the contents of the MTP. Finally, meetings are held with the different agents involved to inform them of the keys to action.
