Work begins on the construction of the new infant and primary school in Castalla

• The project has a total cost of 4,157,984 euros and is financed by the Generalitat Valenciana under the Edificant Plan
• The works include the construction of two classrooms, a dining room and a gymnasium which will be ready in eighteen months

Castalla Town Council has begun work on the construction of the new infant and primary school CEIP nº 2. The project is financed by the Generalitat Valenciana as part of the Plan Edificant and has a total cost of 4,157,984.59 euros. The mayor of the town, Antonio Bernabeu, said that “the construction of the school allows us to provide Castalla with a new facility, a project we have worked hard for and which will improve the quality of education for our children”.

Thus, the new infrastructure of Castalla that the government team has promoted will have a line of kindergarten and primary education. The building will have a pair of classrooms for infants and primary, a building for the dining room and another for the gymnasium. In addition, there are also plans to build a sports court and some Valencian ball games. The school will be located on a plot between the streets of Planisses, Maigmó, Planets and Revolcador.

The town planning councillor, Raquel Guill, believes that “the characteristics of the new school ensure that the children of our town will be able to study in quality conditions once the work has been completed”. In this sense, for Guill, it is “a project that we have worked hard to bring forward from the government team and that helps to meet the educational needs of our citizens”.

Specifically, the classrooms will be oriented towards the area closest to the population to facilitate student access. The project also reserves the necessary space for future extensions within the same premises. The dimensions of the plot total 6,720 square metres.

The construction period for the new school is eighteen months from the start of the works, which began in the last week of December 2021. In this way, the mayor has assured that “in less than two years we will have the new nursery and primary school”.

On the other hand, the councillor for Education, Román Sáez, “the new CEIP No. 2 is a qualitative leap for education in our town, which will benefit all students, boys and girls of Castalla”.
