  • The City Council encourages young people to participate in the Local Council for Childhood and Adolescence (CLIA), through the Department of Social Welfare

Castalla Town Council has scheduled a series of workshops and talks for students to be held during the month of June. The activities are promoted by the Department of Social Welfare and will focus on issues of importance to this sector of society such as cyberbullying, the responsible use of screens or co-responsibility. In addition, the Council also encourages young people to participate in the Local Council for Childhood and Adolescence (CLIA), which will be launched next September.

Firstly, we have the co-responsibility workshop for the students of CEIP Rico Sapena, an action planned in the 1st Municipal Plan for Childhood and Adolescence in Castalla. Co-responsibility implies that both men and women assume responsibilities and tasks on equal terms, both at work and at home and in the family. Thus, the activity will take place on 12 June 2023 in the classrooms of the educational centre for four sessions, aimed at students in the fifth year of primary school.

Secondly, the Consistory has also scheduled talks on cyberbullying and responsible use of screens and electronic devices, given by psychologist Paloma Martínez Fernández. This proposal is designed for schoolchildren from IES Enric Valor and CEIP Rico Sapena. The talks will take place on 16 and 19 June. Cyberbullying can have serious emotional and psychological consequences for victims, and it is important to offer tools so that young people can detect and combat it.

Thirdly, Castalla also encourages its young people to participate in the Local Council for Childhood and Adolescence (CLIA) of the municipality. This body will begin its activity next September 2023. Before that, on 16 and 19 June, two children’s consultants will hold information sessions on its composition in the assembly hall of the IES Enric Valor secondary school. The CLIA is a citizen participation body designed so that children and adolescents of the municipality can contribute their vision and proposals. The aim of this initiative is to gain first-hand knowledge of the reality and demands of this historically invisible sector of the population.

Finally, it should be noted that this cycle of activities is carried out in collaboration with the social consultancy EQUÀLITAT, participació i igualtat and is funded by the Generalitat Valenciana.
