  • The Tourism Department is planning meetings with professionals in the sector, such as the Castles and Palaces Network or Inclusive Tourism

The Castalla City Council will showcase its full potential at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR), held at IFEMA Madrid between January 18 and 22. The capital of La Foia is consolidating its position as an outstanding destination in inland Alicante, within the Costa Blanca Tourism Board brand. The City Council is committed to active tourism as the highlight of the proposal of the town, with activities such as hiking, cycling or climbing in the natural environment of the area. Castalla’s appeal is rounded out by its wide range of cultural, gastronomic, historical and heritage attractions, including its castle.

FITUR is a great showcase to show Castalla to the world. This was the assessment of the Councilor for Tourism, Maite Gimeno, who said that “Castalla’s presence at this fair is very important because it puts us on the map as a destination with great appeal for all types of users, such as families, couples, groups of friends or people traveling alone.” The mayor stressed that “our city has everything necessary to attract travelers, a beautiful natural environment, rich gastronomy, culture and traditions with charm and a varied historical heritage, starting with our castle”.

Thus, for five days, the Castellut Tourism Department will be present in the Spanish capital to make itself known at FITUR. Wednesday, January 18 is the official opening of the fair. On this first day, Castalla’s Nou Trinquet restaurant will present the star dish of local cuisine, gazpachos, at 3:00 p.m. in the showcookings located in the tasting area.

In addition, the City Council team will hold various working meetings on Wednesday and Thursday with industry professionals. Among them, the sessions with the Network of Castles and Palaces and Inclusive Tourism stand out.

Also, on Friday will take place the presentation of the official video of Castalla on Active Tourism. The spot can be seen in the Costa Blanca videowall, the space designed to promote the towns of the counties of Alicante.

On the other hand, the Lookish Travel Guide application will also be presented on Friday, at the stand located in the area of technology companies of the Network of Smart Tourist Destinations. Castalla is invited to this presentation as a success story in the use of the Lookish Spain application, a tool that the tourism department has been using with great results for three years.

Finally, on Saturday, January 21 Castalla will participate in the working group ‘Terra de Festes’, with the aim of highlighting the traditions and festivals of our municipalities. The town will put the focus on ‘La Dansa’, a typical dance of the city, considered an Intangible Asset of Local Relevance.
