La Volta a la Foia starts its 37th edition in Castalla with more than 800 participants in the popular race

La Volta a la Foia reaches its 37th edition with the celebration of the sporting event on Sunday, October 29, 2023. This year, the race starts and ends in Castalla, and will also pass during its 27’5 km through the neighboring towns of Ibi and Onil. The organizers expect more than 800 participants, with 500 runners and 300 walkers in the popular walk, now in its 21st edition.
The event is organized by the Club Atletismo Castalla, Trail Running Onil and Club de Atletismo Teixereta de Ibi, and is sponsored by the respective town councils. All these entities have presented at a press conference the news of the 37th Volta a la Foia, in the presence of the mayor of Castalla, Jesus Lopez, and the mayor of Ibi, Sergio Carrasco, and the councilors of Sports Castalla, José Miguel Payá, Ibi, Ramon Cintas, and Onil, Oscar Bernabeu.
For his part, the member of the Club Atletismo Castalla, Juan Collado, stressed that “for the 37th edition of the Volta a la Foia we expect a large influx of runners, more than 800 registered, who will participate in this race consolidated and also serves as preparation for the Valencia Marathon, as it is one of the last long-distance races before its celebration”. Thus, Collado explained that “we will have the presence of renowned and award-winning athletes, such as the mountain runner Miguel Mataix; the former international runner Francisco Martín “Pacorro”; Andrés Micó, who has won the race in previous editions or Pilar Rubio, runner-up in Spain, among many others”.
On Sunday at 8:00 am will begin the 300 participants in the 21st Popular March. An hour later, at 9:00 a.m., the starting signal will be given to the more than 500 registered runners. A procession of bikers with their Harley Davidson will be in charge of opening the race. Everything is ready to enjoy a magnificent sporting atmosphere during the race, as well as after the race with refreshments.
Likewise, the organizers have also set up a parking service for runners and attendees, as many streets in the city will be closed to ensure the route. Vehicles may be parked in the open field adjacent to the Municipal Auditorium.
